BWC# 26- Decade Past

Hi Everyone,

First off I'd like to give a shout out to Chris for her response to the last bi-weekly challenge, here's the response:

The year 2000 was a huge event all over the world and now an entire decade has passed and 2010 is coming to a close. This week's challenge is to create a layout highlighting some major events or personal developments/changes as a tribute to this past decade.

BWC #25 - 'Tis the Season

Before getting to the new challenge, during November Denitza and Bren both submitted contributions for Bren's BWC #23 -- Halloweenish -- Scrap a Halloween layout.  Take a look:
By Denitza
Left page by Bren
Right page by Bren
Now, for this next BWC, I'd like to see us turn from Halloween to the Christmas season.  Your challenge is this: pull out old holiday photos (or some you may already have from this season) and scrap a layout with them OR share a scrap project that you're making someone for a holiday gift!

BWC #24 - Lift Yourself!

Pardons this is a couple of days late, I gots a preemie at home now - Caruso was discharged from the NICU on FRIDAY!

We've had many challenges where you lift someone else. But how about lifting yourself? Or rather, lifting yourself when you were in a former scrapper era, before you developed your current style? For this BWC, I want you to lift one of YOUR OWN LO's that is at least TWO YEARS old. If you've been scrapping for less than two years, then just try to go to your earliest era as possible. I think it will be fun to give the works of your former-scrap-self a fresh take AND some kudos... so many people don't celebrate their early-days enough, let's give your former-scrap-self some creative flattery by imitating what she/he did in the past!

FYI my sample LO of this is planned in my head but I will most likely be severely delayed in scrapping/posting it... :)

BWC #22 Remembering

Create a LO about something that is not an everyday event (e.g. a vacation, a football game, a party, an event...you get the idea). The catch is you must incorporate a piece of memorabilia from the event into the LO.

It will be interesting in seeing what we come up with

BWC #21 - Harvest Moon Challenge

I am cheating a little when I post this challenge, but only in the fact that it is the same challenge that is going on over at the Tidbitz In Time website. I just posted this challenge yesterday and since it is my week for the BWC - I thought I would give all of you the chance to play along if you wish. Here are the details:

The Harvest Moon challenge has specific requirements, but it should be inspirational and a lot of fun! Each participant will be allowed to submit up to three pages for this contest, but each page must inlcude an embellishment of an apple, a pumpkin or leaves. For example, if you submit a page with a pumpkin rub-on, then you could also submit a page with an apple chipboard embellishment and another page with some leaves. However; you are not required to submit three pages to participate. The contest deadline will be Sunday, October 24th at midnight. The winning submission will receive the prize shown below.

Please send the photos of your pages to me: pics@tidbitzintime.com

I also want to recognize and say thank you to everyone who has participated in the recent challenges:
BWC #17 - Sharon submitted a layout titled "You and I Have Memories Longer than the Road"

BWC 13 - All About Me -

BWC 16 - An August Day -

Please check these out if you haven't already...

Now - it's time for your every-four-months Catch-Up BWC! Your chance to take a breather & get your creativity SPARKED by past BWCs.

Here's the description to the last BWC: BWC #18 - Negative Image & Hybrid Working Together (posted by .MaRLeNe./Marlene) - Okay everyone, time for a new challenge from moi LOL I would love you guys to try something different, so here goes.

I challenge you all to take a regular color photo and change it into black and white negative image for a dramatic look on your photo project. Directions will follow below * I finished my 52 Card Pickup class and this was one of the favorite techniques.

Now I also challenge you to do some hybrid scrapbooking. I’ve been obsessed with Polaroid picture images lately. I was searching the web and found this blog: http://scrappyfairy.blogspot.com/2010/07/instant-freeb i... I love these downloads and they’re free! Now you don’t have to use any of the downloads from this site, but I just wanted to share. I challenge you to print up some digital images and use them in your layout.

I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with. Happy Scrapping

* Instructions for negative image technique:
1. Insert photo image with high contrast into a Word document.
2. Make sure the photo is highlighted in your Word document to cause the format picture tool bar to pop up. Select the image control icon, which will cause a drop-down menu to appear. Select the black & white option from this drop-down menu to change the photo to a negative
image. Use the contrast controls to darken the photo further, if desired.
3. Print and you’re ready to go!

BWC #17: We're a sketchy bunch.

First, BWC responses since last time....

BWC #11 - Everything But The Kitchen Sink:
Brenda's "Friends+Fishing=Fun"

BWC #12 - Running Out Of Time"
Sharon's "Squirrel Notes"

BWC #14 - Get To Know Your CG Blog:
Brenda's "Wicked"
Sharon's "Passion Island"

BWC #15 - Put a Mask On It:
Sharon's "Mask Card"

BWC #16 - An August Day:
Chris' "A Day in Our Life 8-10-10"

That's a lot of BWC responses.... awesome!!!

For this edition of the BWC, I wanted to pick something that would be easy for everyone to do... if you're anything like me, this time of year gets really crazy with all the events going on! I thought back to a few of the challenges that were really simple but still great ways to force yourself to do a LO, and here's what I came up with...

Required: Choose a sketch from the August Page Maps and create a LO based on it. That's it!!!

Optional: For an added challenge, choose one or more of the following:

1. Make your LO monochromatic.
2. Use no cardstock.
3. Use a song lyric for your page title.

Bonus if you can incorporate all three options! :)

BWC #16 - An August Day

Hi - Posting this for Brian:

I fully acknowledge that this challenge will be extremely self-serving and biased. I've weighed that. :-) Choose a day within the next two weeks (August 1 - August 14) and scrap your day. Nothing much needs to have happened and photos aren't completely necessary. Also, use something from your yard or outside your apartment on your layout. (Why is this biased? My birthday is in the two week period. I'll try to scrap a different day though)

BWC #15: Put on a Mask and Meet This Challenge!

Your challenge is to complete a new layout that utilizes a masking technique, and upload it by the end of the month. This layout may not be part of another album or project you are already working on. Are you up for the mask task? This challenge will self-destruct on August 1.

BWC #14 - Get To Know Your CG Blog!

First off, let's shout out to the challenge responses posted since the last challenge, please check these out if you haven't already!

BWC #9 - Use Your Workstation Scraps:

BWC #13 - All About Me:

BWC #1 - Remember Your Passion:

Now, onto the next challenge: As most of us already know, Scrap Happenzz has a marvelous blog! There's a link to the blog in the first post of the Main Thread as well as in my siggy. It's an excellent place to find group info in an organized & searchable format. But the blog's not just for posting challenges & tRAKking. Look in the right margin of the blog & you'll see a nifty section called "Where Da Grrllzz (& 1 Boy) Surf." There are some groovy scrap links here, posted at the suggestion of memberZZ past & present! Have you ever explored any of these?? Have you ever explored ONE of these?!

I challenge you to scrap a page that incorporates inspiration from FIVE (yes, FIVE) of the links listed under "Where Da Grrllzz (& 1 Boy) Surf." For example, maybe you're inspired by 1) something casually mentioned in a member blog, 2) a sketch from "Got Sketch," 3) a Photoshop tip, 4) materials from a Tidbitz in Time kit and 5) something that came up in one of the Time Capsule Generators. Take that inspiration & put it into a layout! And in the process, learn more about the terrific resources our CG has in our happy lil group (& of course, the humble peeps behind the scenes who, ahem, maintain said blog!). :)

Hope you have FUN w/ this one, can't wait to see what you come up with. ENJOY!

(ps PARDONS PLEASE in advance for being late on posting my own example of this...I'm absolutely over the MOON re: our bun in the oven but it sure has delayed my BWC-responding! My own example IS planned, I just need to carve out the time to scrap it as well as other challenge responses) :)

BWC 13 - All About Me

Posting this for Tay:

We all love to scraft but what are the other things that you love to do? The things that relax you or smile. The other pieces of the puzzle that complete you.

The LO should include a picture of you and scrap using primarily your favorite color. Tell your story through pictures or journaling.

BWC 12 - Running Out of Time

Posting this for Margaret/scrappinmomto2girls:

BWC #12 - Running Out of Time

I have been so pressed this week with trying to get so many things done(that should have already been done since I have had plenty of time….(bad procrastination) LOL So my challenge is this, scrap a LO showing how u cope with getting last minute things done(and don't wait to the last minute to do the LO LOL) Like what is your strategy what do you put first, how do you organize it all?

I hope that this is a good one and that you all will enjoy it!!!

BWC #11 "Everything but the Kitchen Sink"

Hello my Scrappy friends!

I want to recognize a few LO's in response to a few challenges:

BWC #6 - Put Letters on that Photo!

Marlene's " That's just how I roll"

Sharon's "Philippines"

Denitza's "Madison"

Michelle's "Kitty on the roof"

BWC#7 "Today"
Denita's "Today"

BWC #8 - Your Theme Song
Sharon's "Beautiful Day"

Denitza's "Peace"

Brian's " 30 years;Page 5"
http://www.scrapbook.com/galleries/306923/view/2729417/-1.html

Now onto the BWC #11 "Everything but the Kitchen Sink"
It will make sense when you see the requirements:
1. Close your eyes and chose 3 pieces of cardstock (if you store them like I do, separated by colors/themes, then lay them on a table and chose)
2. must use deco scissors (I assume we all have at least one pair)
3. use 1 piece of ribbon
4. use at least one flower
5. use and arrow of any size, shape or medium
6. use metal e.g. brads, corners, staples, eyelets, anchors or whatever else you might have
7. use inking or stamping. If you tend to do a lot of inking, consider using stamping and vise versa
8. use at least one button

Like I said, "Everything but the Kitchen Sink". I was inspired by Wendy's challenge of using scrapping scraps (although I had just gotten rid of mine a few weeks before she issued the challenge!) and utilizing things we don't "normally" use.

Have fun and I look forward to seeing what we can come up with!

BWC #10 - Catch-Up BWC!

Firstly, let's shout out to Brian's response to BWC 8 - Your Theme Song: 30 Years, Page 5!

Now, as requested, here is your every-4-months Catch-Up BWC. You get a couple more weeks to respond to past challenges!

Here's the description to the last one - Wendy's BWC 9 - Use Your Workstation Scraps: Use your workstation scraps....not sure how else to title this, but I will explain in more detail. When I am working on a layout or card at home, I almost always use ink, paint or something else that is messy, so often times I have a sheet of paper that I practice a stamp on or use to brush off excess paint or maybe even just have under my scrapbook paper to protect the work surface. Lately I have been realizing that these random pieces of "table protection" paper look pretty cool after some time in use. My challenge is to save those scraps and use them in a layout!

And CLICK HERE to get a list of all the challenges from SHCG's past - very cool stuff!

We'll get back to our regularly scheduled BWCs in 2 weeks. Enjoy your catch-up!! :o)

BWC #9 Use Your Workstation Scraps

First, I want to send a shout out to Denitza for contributing to BWC #8 with her layout titled Peace and another shout out to Michelle for her response to BWC #6 - Put Some Letters on that Photo - Kitty on the Roof.

Now for BWC #9 - use your workstation scraps....not sure how else to title this, but I will explain in more detail. When I am working on a layout or card at home, I almost always use ink, paint or something else that is messy, so often times I have a sheet of paper that I practice a stamp on or use to brush off excess paint or maybe even just have under my scrapbook paper to protect the work surface. BWC #8 - Your Theme Song

Thanks to Denitza for your BWC #7: Today. I'm still thinking that one over, but your example is great!

For this challenge, choose a song that means something to you. I could be your theme song or it could be the theme song for a moment or person in your life. Create a layout for it and be sure to include some lyrics (if not the whole song, at least the lyrics that say what it is that meant something to you).

Enjoy!
Brian

And here comes the challenge-pick a day -one from the next 2 weeks, and scrap about it. Do journaling only, embellish a lot or a little, use pics or not, just create!!Whatever you feel like doing is fine with me. Here is what I came up with-just an example:
Today By Denitza

Also, let's not forget to check out Sharon's response to BWC#4 "Valentine"

BWC # 6: Put some letters on that photo!

Hi everyone :) Here’s a fun new challenge for you all, one that you can do quickly and won't take up so much time.

My challenge is to create a layout 8x8 or smaller, pick a picture that you really love but haven't been able to scrap yet and put some alpha letters directly on your photo! You can use stickers, Thickers or by computer. I pasted my photo into MS Word and typed the text right on to the photo.

I can't wait to see what you all create! Have fun and happy scrapping.

xxx Marlene
