QueZZtion of the Week, 04/06/08

Hi All! I believe I'm up for this one this week.

What book are you reading these days? Talk a little about it. If you aren't reading something currently, discuss why & what you'd read if given the chance.

I'm reading "Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire." I usually read suspense fiction paperbacks (great for subway reading & fit in my purse nicely!) but too many people I admire got into Harry Potter & highly recommended the series, so I had to check it out. DH is reading each book after me. At first I thought I'd have to take a break every once in a while to read "grown-up books" but I don't think I can - I just want to find out what happens in each! Plus the characters have grown on me & JK Rowling writes in very witty subtleties that can be appreciated by adults & kids alike. Most of all, I'm in awe at the scope of JK Rowlings pure imagination; that she dreamed of this entire magical universe & describes it in such vivid & colorful detail astounds me!

Well, I just finished a fabulous book : Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides

A great read about a "girl" who was born intersexed. You'll have to read it to understand completely. It not only takes you through her discovering, dealing, and living with her body, but it also follows the genetic mutation back generations and follows that story. I thought it was cleverly intertwined and well-written.

I just finished that and started a book One Mississippi by Mark Childress

Yesterday, I only had enough energy to get through the first two chapters, but it is pretty good thus far. Not enough to even critique. I picked the book solely on the name (my home state) and noticed he is also the author of Crazy in Alabama, which I loved. So, we shall see.

Today I am reading
A Visitor's Guide to Ancient Rome
It is illustrated with cartoons and I think it is geared to kids but who cares it's funny!

The more I learn about Romans the more I think they rocked!
