QueZZtion of the Week, 05/11/08

OK I'm up next since I couldn't wait to share my Led Zeppelin fantasy in my last QOW responses, LOL...

What would you say you cared the most about exactly a year ago, and how does it compare/contrast to what you care about these days?

I found this question on a list of random questions somewhere & it struck me as especially interesting, given my own recent journey...

Let's start w/ the negative & work our way positive! So some of you will remember that last year, the entertainment law firm I worked for imploded. Then my boss asked me to work on something that was a responsibility of his COLLEGE AGED DAUGHTER. It was all handled so poorly... Years of working at a crazy pace, working at least 10 hrs of OT (often more) a week, combined w/ this incident, finally got me to the point where despite the good aspects, my job was NOT worth the bad aspects!

How that compares to now is that just last month I started working for an amazing co. Even though I'm not as excited w/ the area of law I'm in now, I am so grateful to leave every day at 5:30PM, work for an appreciative co. among very nice folks & no longer live w/ daily ANGST!

Others things that I cared the most about exactly a year ago - my hubby, my family, my hobbies, physical/mental health, my online & IRL friends (scrap & otherwise) - I still deeply care about! So that hasn't changed. But having a healthier work/life balance positively affects these things because I now feel like I'm more present in all other aspects of my life. Yeah baby!

I have to honestly say that for the most part what I care about today, are the same things I cared about last year. My daughters, my hubby, a happy homelife, a happy worklife, the normal stuff.
I worry a little more now about what our job future holds for us in such a tough economy but try not to worry as much as prepare for it.
