Wow, make it a few thousand square feet bigger is my first choice! But if we're dealing w/ reality...
- Re-tile the bathroom & kitchen. We LOVE our pre-war building, it's so interesting w/ its molding & other details & built so sturdily. But the tile in our bathroom is soo old, it LOOKS dirty even though when it's freshly cleaned. Bleach only goes so far, it's just old. With the kitchen (someone put linoleum over what we've been told is lovely hardwood underneath), whoever tiled it put too much adhesive-stuff under it so that every week or so, the stuff kinda seeps out the cracks & needs another scrubbing off. Contractors have told us it'll do that forever until we tear it up & re-tile, grr!
OK back to daydreaming, I would also want a self-cleaning home. We're usually good at keeping it clean but this week I've had SEVERAL instances where I said to myself "I wish I had time to really organize/spring clean" that. Maybe it's just the holiday crunch & I know we just took a vacay, but wow, we could use another week off, doing nothing but house stuff (couldn't we all...?)
Well, my house is brand new and in a brand new subdivision, so there isn't anything that HAS to be done. I would like to add on to the back to make my master bedroom/bathroom larger and reconfigure a bit so I could have a custom walk-in closet. :) Someday that will happen!
I adore my house. In fact, other some minor things here or there, I would not change the interior.
However, I would love to pick up my house and put it on a larger parcel of land. I wish that my children had more room to run and play without me worrying about them getting near the street, etc.
I'd love to make it bigger, and have a yard,(not to mention having it not be a third floor apt) but since that's not likly to happen any time soon, the room I'd change most is my bedroom. I detest the furniture that is in there (always have, but it was a gift from my Mom) and the bedspread is needing replaced badly. I've gooten new furniture in most of the rest of the house, but haven't found really what I want for in there. Maybe some day!! :)
