I do have one lucky item...as most of you know I had been taking a few very difficult tests for work and I remember the first test I took out of four was a huge undertaking and something I was extremely stressed about. The morning of the test I dressed as quick as possible and had thrown on this old, beat up Nicklback zip up hoodie which I bought at a concert years ago. Luckily, I ended up passing the test and remembered which sweatshirt I had worn, so soon enough my next test came along and I pulled out the Nickelback sweatshirt again...just in case. So now for every test I have taken I have worn that beat up Nickelback sweatshirt. I remember at the last test I was so nervous and I just kept reminding myself that nothing could go wrong because I had that Nickelback shirt on. For the moment the shirt has been retired as I do not want to "wear the luck" out of it.

I don't really have any lucky charms. But I DO wear at least 4 of my rings daily. 2 are my engagement ring (white gold round .8 diamond solitaire) & my wedding band (white gold band handcarved w/ swirlies). But for years before my engagement/marriage, I've had a longstanding attachment to these 2 other rings. One is a sterling silver James Avery continuous band of armadillos, representing how I was raised in Texas, the deep bonds I have w/ my family & a multitude of happy memories. I originally had this ring as a teen...in '03 during a move to another city I LOST it...I had to have it again so I custom ordered another in a .5 size smaller (it was a discontinued design but you can specially re-order for a price). It fits a little tight but I'm soo happy to have it back & even plan to buy it again in the bigger size, just in case the one I have someday gets too small. That's testament to how I feel about this ring! The other ring is from Sundance, it's mostly silver but with some gold, w/ designs that resemble a cauldron, or a sun, something...circles n swirls. Somehow, I feel centered when I touch this ring...

I wouldn't call these rings good luck charms but I get a certain groundedness from them. I only take them off every couple weeks for cleaning. I take such joy in them, and they soothe me so. :)

Christy's newly acquired Irish accent somehow reminded me of searching for leprechauns and four-leaf clovers in the yard in front of my preschool. When I was finally old enough to use my allowance to buy things I wanted, I bought my mom an "actual" four-leaf clover that came with a Mother's Day wish from the Hallmark of our closest mall. I must have a thought that being a gambler, she'd appreciate a lucky charm. I brought it to school and showed it to my fifth grade teacher, who was somewhat of an oaf and took it upon himself to open the packaging to touch it in order to determine if it was real. It immediately tore in his gigantic, clumsy fingertips. I was utterly dejected and horrified, and couldn't ignore what this must have symbolized about my own luck. I don't remember what my mother's replacement gift was; I have a feeling I didn't tell her what had happened to her original gift as she was very superstitious about these kinds of things.

I don't know if they are lucky but I got the "charm" bite and now have 4 charm bracelets of charms I bought from e-bay. I display them next to my computer.
