We play music in the hallways of our elementary school every day and that got me thinking, what is your favorite type of music, and why is it? On the flipside, what type of music do you absolutely abhor?

It used to drive me crazy, but now I love it... country music. The "CMT" style country, that is!
I like lots of music. My favorites are country (especially the older stuff- Waylon rocks!) and southern rock. I also am quite fond of heavy metal and big band music. How's that for a contrast?? :)
What I don't like... rap, techno, and poppy top-40 stuff.
I love all sorts of music but first & foremost I'm a rock chick. Alternative rock, hard rock, straight forward no-frills rock, Southern rock, blues rock, pop rock, new wave retro rock, some metal, you name it, I love it! Even some soft/lite rock too. I enjoy other genres of music too - blues, classical, big band, some classic country, bluegrass, some classic R&B etc. But at the heart of things, I love rock & I have the LO to prove it! http://scrapbook.com/galleries/41507/view/1321851/-1/20/1.html
Not sure if there's a genre I actually abhor. At different times in my life I've strongly disliked contemporary country, hard core rap, opera, house music, some top 40 & techno, but there are exceptions to all of those that I DO like. So I really can't say.
I tend to like good harmony, simple melodies, women singers, and good guitar playing.
I do not like singers who just SCREAM, and songs that just agitate the nerves.

and try as I might I just never have been able to get into true JAZZ. To me it always seems to be adlibbing solos with long sounds that never repeat.
But I do like the occasion jazzish sound that makes it's way into mainstream music. Of these top 10 Jazz songs how many do you know?

My favorite type of music is christian rock/contemporary music. Some of the artists you may have heard of is P.O.D., Switchfoot, Flyleaf. I'm a rock girl, no disco for me LOL I also don't like country or rap. I also like Coldplay alot. When I was younger I loved Duran Duran, my whole room was covered with their posters - even my ceiling :)
I love music and it can range from Country, christian, swing, jazz, pop, rock, zydico to heavy metal and everything in between. Basicly what ever I'm listen to, better be something I can dance to. The only music I strongly dislike is opera, chant and rap that has really nasty lyerics, or just rap with out a good beat.
