2Q10 #3: Your Top 10 of the Millenium's First Decade

The first decade of the millenium, known as "the aughts," has come to a close--and what a decade it's been! Choose a theme and share your decade's top 10 moments. Challenge yourself to choose only one for each year. Check out this NBC link for theme ideas. What ought we to know about your aughts?

Reflecting on my first decade of the millenium, my wanderlust exposed itself, so I decided upon a travel theme. However, some years we traveled more than others and the challenge became committing to one top travel destination for those years. Here's my example:

Our Decade of Journeys
2000: Honeymoon in Monterey.
2001: No phones, no television weekend in mystical Timber Cove.
2002: Bye-bye Berkeley apartment. Hello, new home, sweet home
2003: Branched off of a VW bus road trip with friends from NorCal through Big Sur, for an Arizona-Grand Canyon-Vegas jaunt.
2004: Anniversary in Maui and rendezvous with friends.
2005: Survived Costa Rica.
2006: Epic three week summer journey with friends and family in Europe.
2007: Flew to Connecticut and drove to Massachusetts with college friends for our friends' fall wedding.
2008: Aloha Hawaiian islands--three times!
2009: Paris in the springtime.

2Q10 #2: Living the Dream

Monday, most states observed Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday. The U.S. has come a long way since the American Civil Rights Movement and closer to the vision Dr. King laid out in his famous, "I Have a Dream," speech. Yet, our country has a long road of progress ahead with respect to racial, gender, age, disability, and economic equality. What is your dream for the progress of our nation or world, and how do you see yourself in making your dream a reality?

BWC #2 The Other Side of You

First, here's Denitza's response to BWC #1 Remember Your Passion -

Good morning SHCG!!! I hope that you have had a great weekend!!!

I had a bit of a time trying to come up with a challenge that seemed challenging enough LOL but I think that I got one :)

Most people see one side of us all the time, like me I seem to always be nice and people have told Mike how sweet I am and while of course this is true there is a side of me that I don't show alot, for example I like to pick on people but you have to be careful cuz you never know who you will offend,I can be quite grumpy, picky(really picky LOL) sensitive etc...so I want to hear about the other side of you. What makes you tick, pet peeves, etc etc.

I hope that this is a good one :)

TRAKking & RAK Recipients (revised for 2011)

Hi all! As I was updating the right side of our blog (note the cool new sketch links I've added! And the updated memberZZ list!), I noticed that our tRAkking info is a bit outdated. So here is a current version.

As most of you already know, Marlene & I alternate tRAKking duties. We tRAK participation based on our group guidelines (see 1st post of our Main/Chat Thread) & award a RAK to the person who participated the most in a given time period. STARTING IN 2010, we will be awarding RAKs after every FOUR months (a change from the previous every three months). If there’s a tie or if participation is close, we do a random drawing of those closest). STARTING IN 2011, PledgeZZ plus the last THREE RAK-winners aren’t eligible to win the RAK.

Note that Marlene & I do tRAKking similarly but there are slight differences in our format/presentation. Because the process is so involved, we go w/ what works for us - NOT a complaint, we both enjoy doing this! But thought I’d put it out there in case anyone’s wondering why that’s so.

Please let me know if you have any queZZtions!

~Sharon

RAK Winners as of 2010
4/10 Michelle
8/10 Denitza
12/10 Chris
4/11 Ammara
8/11 Michelle

BWC # 1 Remember Your Passion

First, I would like to give credit to Michelle for her response to the previous BWC. Her page is titled Something Fishy.

Now for the challenge:

Wow, Christmas is over and the New Year celebrations have come and gone. So now what? Well, when the holidays are over and the new year is upon us, I believe we all take a closer look at re-balancing our own lives. Hence, New Year's Resolutions. For me, I focus on making/taking the time to discover my own passions again. Whether that is reading, scrapbooking, climbing, etc. - these things are all important to me and make up who I am as an individual. I am a better person because of my passions and am ultimately happier when I focus on them. As the year goes on I lose track of "me" and wind up helping others more than I help myself. This week, I would like to challenge you to create a page which will include one or many things you are passionate about. Feel free to add pictures or to simply make a journal page of your thoughts. Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you can come up with.

2Q10 #1: New Year, New Decade, New Mindset

Being the first quezztion of the decade, it's only appropriate that it comes to you from our very own HBIC (Head Blushpea In Charge). Betta recognize! (On that note, credit for the post heading goes to my high school senior cousin's Facebook status update.)

I know that it's a bit predictable to ask about New Year's resolutions, but it can be cool and helpful for people to actually write them out, like a personal mission statement for the year. Inspired by Tay's recent mention of goals, what are your resolutions for 2010, if any?

If your resolutions are similar to goals you've had in the past, what have you learned about them and are you changing anything about how you approach them?

What about scrap-related resolutions/goals?

If you do not set resolutions/goals for the New Year, discuss why that is and explain when you DO set goals for yourself.
